Avec leur poids plus l\u00e9ger, leur durabilit\u00e9 accrue et leur r\u00e9sistance \u00e0 la corrosion, les plastiques se sont impos\u00e9s comme un choix incontournable dans une myriade d\u2019applications, allant des appareils m\u00e9nagers aux dispositifs m\u00e9dicaux de pointe.<\/p>\n<p>Malgr\u00e9 cette popularit\u00e9 grandissante, l\u2019analyse des d\u00e9faillances des polym\u00e8res demeure complexe et moins bien comprise comparativement \u00e0 l\u2019analyse de m\u00e9canismes de d\u00e9faillance des m\u00e9taux.<\/p>\n<p>La structure mol\u00e9culaire \u00e0 multiples facettes des polym\u00e8res fait en sorte que l\u2019\u00e9ventail des modes de d\u00e9faillance est vari\u00e9. Cette d\u00e9faillance peut notamment \u00eatre reli\u00e9e \u00e0 l\u2019effet de relaxation des contraintes, \u00e0 la fissuration sous contrainte environnementale (figure\u00a01) et au ph\u00e9nom\u00e8ne de fluage<a href=\"#_ftn1\" name=\"_ftnref1\">[1]<\/a>. Par exemple, les plastiques sensibles \u00e0 l\u2019effet d\u2019entaille<a href=\"#_ftn1\" name=\"_ftnref1\">[2]<\/a>, sont susceptibles de se rompre lorsqu\u2019ils sont soumis \u00e0 des concentrations de contraintes dues \u00e0 des entailles, des angles abrupts non arrondis ou des bases de filetage.<\/p>\n<p>CEP obtient de nombreux mandats concernant des ruptures de pi\u00e8ces de polym\u00e8re dont la d\u00e9faillance est associ\u00e9e \u00e0 des concentrations de contraintes s\u2019initiant au niveau de g\u00e9om\u00e9tries non ad\u00e9quates. En \u00e9vitant les concentrations de contraintes ou en incorporant des \u00e9l\u00e9ments de conception permettant des transitions douces et comportant des coins arrondis, les fabricants peuvent r\u00e9duire efficacement le risque d\u2019une d\u00e9faillance pr\u00e9matur\u00e9e des polym\u00e8res.<\/p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text admin_label=\u00a0\u00bbCitation\u00a0\u00bb _builder_version=\u00a0\u00bb4.23.1&Prime; _module_preset=\u00a0\u00bbdefault\u00a0\u00bb text_font=\u00a0\u00bb||||||||\u00a0\u00bb text_text_color=\u00a0\u00bb#13a6a4&Prime; text_line_height=\u00a0\u00bb1.2em\u00a0\u00bb locked=\u00a0\u00bboff\u00a0\u00bb global_colors_info=\u00a0\u00bb{}\u00a0\u00bb]<p>\u00ab\u00a0En outre, une inad\u00e9quation dans la s\u00e9lection des mat\u00e9riaux ou le manque de consid\u00e9ration concernant l\u2019environnement de la tuyauterie peuvent acc\u00e9l\u00e9rer les d\u00e9faillances des polym\u00e8res. Par exemple, l\u2019utilisation du poly\u00e9thyl\u00e8ne basse densit\u00e9 lin\u00e9aire (PEBDL ou LLDPE) pour le transport prolong\u00e9 d\u2019eau chlor\u00e9e peut acc\u00e9l\u00e9rer la d\u00e9gradation de ce mat\u00e9riau, et donc, entra\u00eener une d\u00e9faillance pr\u00e9matur\u00e9e.\u00a0\u00bb<\/p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=\u00a0\u00bb4.23.1&Prime; _module_preset=\u00a0\u00bbdefault\u00a0\u00bb text_font=\u00a0\u00bb|700|||||||\u00a0\u00bb text_font_size=\u00a0\u00bb25px\u00a0\u00bb global_colors_info=\u00a0\u00bb{}\u00a0\u00bb]<p><strong>D\u00e9fauts de fabrication<\/strong><\/p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=\u00a0\u00bb4.23.1&Prime; _module_preset=\u00a0\u00bbdefault\u00a0\u00bb hover_enabled=\u00a0\u00bb0&Prime; global_colors_info=\u00a0\u00bb{}\u00a0\u00bb sticky_enabled=\u00a0\u00bb0&Prime;]<p>Les d\u00e9fauts de fabrication ont une influence consid\u00e9rable sur les d\u00e9faillances des composantes en plastique. Des discontinuit\u00e9s de la mati\u00e8re et des inclusions qui surviennent lors du processus de fabrication peuvent devenir des zones de concentration de contraintes provoquant ainsi des fissures et, \u00e9ventuellement, des d\u00e9faillances. Ils sont reconnus comme des zones de faiblesses dans le mat\u00e9riau, augmentant ainsi leur risque de d\u00e9faillance. Ils englobent les cas d\u2019outils mal calibr\u00e9s et des contraintes m\u00e9caniques anormales. Contrairement aux m\u00e9taux, les plastiques poss\u00e8dent des forces de coh\u00e9sion plus faibles, ce qui les rend plus vuln\u00e9rables aux m\u00e9canismes de d\u00e9faillance \u00e0 long terme. La fissuration se manifeste par la formation initiale de petites fentes ou fissures, souvent microscopiques.<\/p>\n<p>Au d\u00e9part, ces imperfections peuvent passer inaper\u00e7ues et la composante peut sembler fonctionner correctement. Toutefois, avec le temps, ces fissures peuvent se propager et mener \u00e0 des d\u00e9faillances catastrophiques.
