On the Job

Dan has been with CEP for over four years as an electrical engineer. He investigates all things electrical, including fire origin and cause determinations, failure analysis and so much more. A typical day finds Dan travelling to remote locations, collecting data, interviewing witnesses, taking photographs, and recording observations.

Back in the office, Dan pieces together the puzzle of each investigation by also pulling historical weather records, searching for manufacturer recalls, and performing analysis. When all the pieces are assembled, his clients have a complete picture of the facts, from repairability or salvageability of valuable equipment to potential contributing factors. To him, each file is unique, ensuring every day is different, ripe with the opportunity to learn and apply.

Over the last four years, Dan has travelled all over Canada for investigations, meeting up with insureds, clients, other investigators, and subcontractors. Whether independently or as part of a team, Dan searches through the rubble to find the answers needed.

Around the office

With a winning smile, Dan puts in an honest day’s work all while dishing out witty commentary along with a few jokes to his colleagues. He’s old school when it comes to documentation. He loves working with a pen and paper to draw out observations and analysis. His old school roots run deep as he still uses a Blackberry as his personal phone. If you need the breakfast of champions, Dan’s an excellent source for the best coffee and donuts in town.

Outside work

When he isn’t up to his elbows in fire debris or electrical wire, Dan loves to strap on the skates and play Canada’s favourite pastime – hockey. But he also enjoys the international sport of soccer. For even more fun, he appreciates sport shooting and spending valuable time outdoors with his wife and daughter.
