Fracture analysis and problem solving
In his first six months with CEP, Colin’s days have been spent on a variety of tasks! From examining failed components to testing equipment to site exams at residential and commercial buildings, his expertise has been invaluable. With a wealth of experience in materials failures, research and development, and working for manufacturers, he has a unique perspective on the potential causes of cracks, ruptures, and leakages. Problem solving and getting to the root of the file through analysis is his passion. He enjoys the variety of files and helping clients find answers for their losses.
Digging through the data
As an expert in material fractures and failures, Colin is often called upon to provide insight and help on a variety of files. He’s always available to gather some research about specific applications or questions from his colleagues, and often provides some context or extra information to help others with their analysis and conclusions. For his own files, he is often found putting together testing protocols and reviewing the results, examining fracture faces, or completing site examinations. If there are unanswered questions, Colin is always up for the challenge of researching or testing to determine the answers. The variety of problems to be solved, the changing nature of the work and the people (both clients and colleagues) are some of his favourite parts of the job.
And because life is more than work…
Outside work, Colin can often be found either in the garage or out in nature. One of his passions is vintage American cars. He spends a lot of his spare time repairing, collecting, and customizing them. When he is not tinkering around the garage, Colin can be found training for a 52-kilometre trail ultramarathon.
