Roadway Design

Highway on-ramps, winding roads, invasive tree lines: these are just a few examples of roadway design and civil engineering elements that can affect the likelihood or severity of a collision.

If a driver exits the freeway on a ramp that has a particularly tight curve radius, any excess speed may result in too wide of a turn, causing the vehicle to veer into the oncoming lane or onto the shoulder. Visual obstructions may also prevent drivers from perceiving oncoming traffic, and in the case of a truck bearing an oversized or heavy load, a bridge or overpass that does not provide enough clearance can pose a serious risk.
