Carlos Read Rodriguez

GENERAL INFORMATION

Carlos Read Rodriguez holds dual bachelor’s degrees in Chemistry and Physics, and a Ph.D. in Chemistry from The Pennsylvania State University. He completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the California Institute of Technology (Caltech), where his research focused on electrochemistry, batteries and next-generation energy storage technologies.

He is a Certified Fire and Explosion Investigator (CFEI) and a Certified Vehicle Fire Investigator (CVFI). For more than five years, he worked at a leading science and engineering consulting firm, where he led failure analyses and root-cause investigations involving consumer products and lithium-ion batteries, and performed detailed characterizations across a wide range of materials systems and devices.

EXPERTISE

As a forensic investigator, Carlos conducts on-site investigations, performs simulations, and prepares expert reports. He designs and executes laboratory testing and modeling to evaluate and confirm hypotheses regarding the nature and cause of failures, with a specialization in thermal events, fires, and explosions linked to lithium-ion batteries and consumer products.
