Paul Steneker
Ph. D., P.Eng. | Forensic Engineer
Specialties: Structural and Civil Engineering
GENERAL INFORMATION
Paul Steneker has specialized in various topics within structural engineering, but most notably on the effects of seismic vibrations on structures and their contents, which earned him a Ph.D. from McMaster University. Notably among other topics, his research included several scientific contributions which advanced the economic optimizing of disaster resiliency improvements strategies for both buildings, contents, and occupants. He then professionally applied his expertise in the design industry as a structural design engineer for several years, working mainly on large institutional retrofits of historic structures. This experience has provided Paul with a wide variety of experience in construction projects, while simultaneously allowing him to become a leading expert in specific fields.
EXPERTISE
As a forensic engineer, Paul carries out on-site investigations, conducts advanced computer analyses, and prepares forensic reports to support investigations of some of the most complex structural files received at CEP. His design experience is frequently relied on to develop repair and retrofit strategies to rehabilitate post-disaster structural conditions. Finally, his experience rigorously peer reviewing research papers has led him to become a reviewer of first choice for other expert reports.
