Facilities and Tech Tools
Examination Spaces and Mechanical Laboratories
Besides the numerous disassembly tasks necessary for failure analysis, these facilities allow us to erect a wide variety of test apparatus, so that our engineers can measure and record load and stress data.
We may, for example, verify a suspect failure cause by duplicating the actual service loads in tests.
Materials and Metallurgical Laboratories
Our knowledge of engineering and materials science is a resource that underpins much of the forensic investigation work we carry out for our clients. When something fails, the soundness and appropriateness of the material immediately become issues. CEP Forensic has the skills and resources to delve into these important aspects. Our laboratories have been designed specifically to allow the testing and examination procedures that reveal what is critical to the failure.
Our materials and metallurgy labs are where we test a wide range of commercial and consumer products to compare and verify actual performance capabilities. For example, our heat treating furnace allows tests to verify heat treatment specifications as well as investigate failures related to heat treatment history. Further, under the microscope, our experts can scrutinize internal grain structures for heat treatment flaws. Mechanical properties can be measured at the micro scale providing definitive answers to failure problems.
Specific capabilities and equipment include:
- • Non destructive testing
- • Pressure testing of piping
- • Load testing
- • Water tank testing
- • Stereo Microscope
- • Metallurgical Microscopy
- • Hardness Tester
- • Microhardness Tester
- • SEM (Scanning Electron Microscope)
Tech Tools
At CEP Forensic, we are committed to invest in the development of new services and the integration of new technologies to continually provide the best service to our clients.
Our latest additions:
- • IFTR microscopy (polymers)
- • Radiography Capacities
- • Various Drones
- • 3D Cameras
All these tools allow us to better understand how equipment perform and more so how they can fail.
