Pressure vessels are present in our daily surroundings as well as in industrial environments. Actually, propane gas cylinders, pressure cookers, air compressors and coffee machines are some of many examples.
In commercial, industrial and institutional buildings, pressure equipment takes the form of boilers, tanks, pipes, pipelines, heat exchangers, etc.
Absence or poor maintenance, inappropriate handling, material defect, or other conditions can lead to explosion, implosion, or breakage of certain otherwise innocuous components. These accidents have the potential to project shards at high speeds, generate liquid or gas leaks, and even cause serious injury to nearby individuals.
In Quebec, the Régie du bâtiment had announced that the new regulation on pressurized installations would come into force on March 8th, 2018 and that the owners of such equipment had until April 1st, 2019 to comply with it. For this purpose, if you own this type of equipment, you are responsible for maintaining its security level.
